COVID Food Assistance

WILLMAR — The Kandiyohi County Food Shelf will run COVID Food Assistance Program free distribution from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Willmar Civic Center parking lot.

Participants should enter the lot in their cars off Civic Center and Arena Drive and tell the volunteers how many adults, kids and seniors are in their household.

Pre-packed boxes of meat, dairy and produce will be loaded into each vehicle. Participants should make room for the boxes in the vehicle before attending and no animals should be in the car.

Litchfield Opera House

LITCHFIELD – The Litchfield Opera House will have a fundraising craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Opera House. There will be custom-made crafts, Opera House bread and baked goods for sale.

Operation Christmas Child

WILLMAR – First Covenant Church in Willmar will collect shoeboxes filled with school supplies, hygiene items and fun toys for the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child project. The filled shoeboxes may be dropped off from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16-20, 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 21, 4 to 6 p.m. Nov. 22 and 9 to 11 a.m. on Nov. 23. Shoeboxes may also be dropped off at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo, Restoration Church in Glenwood, Christian Reformed Church in Hancock and Evangelical Free Church in Redwood Falls.

Habitat for Humanity

WILLMAR — Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota ReStore is accepting donations of building materials, large appliances, furniture and more. All donations must be approved by staff before acceptance. Donations can be brought to 2424 First Street South in Willmar between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday. Veteran’s Build: applicants for a build in Willmar for a local military individual or family. Application deadline is Nov. 20. Veteran, military member or family of the fallen applicants are selected to purchase a home using three criteria: the ability to pay based on income and credit; the level of need as determined by their current living conditions; and the willingness to partner with Habitat for Humanity in donating time to the organization and on the home build.
