The gala is the main fundraiser each year for the Rice Health Foundation, supporting programs and services at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital. Funds from this year's gala are earmarked for the expansion of cardiac care, with a goal of increasing access for providers, procedures and equipment close to home.

The need for cardiology-related services in the Willmar area is projected to grow by 17 percent over the next 10 years. Of the patients in the region who needed cardiac care in 2019, 84 percent were transferred outside the region for care. The plan for Carris Health is to relocate the cardiology clinic to the Rice Hospital campus, expand cardiology services from three to five days a week with CentraCare cardiologists and advanced practitioners, and offer cardiology appointments, followup care, on-site cardiology consultations and some additional diagnostic procedures locally.
