Chip N’ Dip

WILLMAR — The Ridgewater College Veterinary Technology Program will have a dog wash and microchipping event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Vet Tech Department in Willmar. Service is by appointment only; call 320-222-7606 weekdays. Dog wash prices are $10 for dogs 20 pounds or less, $13 for medium dogs 21 to 49 pounds, and $15 for large dogs 50 pounds and over. The wash includes minimal grooming and brush out. Other services include microchipping for $35; nail trim, anal gland expression and ear cleaning are $7 each; mat removal is a minimum of $7; and a pet tag is $5.

Call 320-222-8269 when you arrive and remain in your vehicle until your appointment time. Enter through door No. 43. One masked owner per pet will be allowed to enter the building, cash or checks only, no credit cards accepted.

Haiti Literacy Program

PRINSBURG — A Chris Cakes pancake breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg. All you can eat for a freewill donation. Home decor and gifts and more for sale too. Proceeds go to the Haiti Literacy Program.

Jeff Schmitz family

WILLMAR — A baked potato bar fundraiser for the Jeff Schmitz family will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Blomkest Civic Center. Eat in or take-out, freewill donation. Baked goods for sale and silent auction. Schmitz lost his wife, Summer, shortly after the birth of twins, from complications of a sudden onset of leukemia. Griffin and Zander were welcomed home by a 2-year-old sister, Finley. Donations may be also sent to Blomkest Baptist Church Summer Memorial Fund, Box 156, Blomkest, MN 56216.

Carris Health Foundation

WILLMAR — The 2021 Carris Health Foundation gala will be held virtually from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12. The live event will include entertainment, information about the beneficiary, online and live auction bidding and pledge section. Purchase a “Gala in a Box” to help create your Gold Gala experience. Proceeds will benefit patients receiving Carris Health Dental Clinic oral health care in a 17-county service area. RSVP online at carrishealth.com/foundation . New London-Spicer Area Fund

NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer Area Fund has opened its grant round to fund programs for projects that fit within the categories of arts, healthy communities and lifestyles, environment and large-scale and sustainable initiatives. Eligible organizations must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, school or government entity which serves the 12 northern townships of Kandiyohi County: Arctander, Burbank, Colfax, Dovre, Green Lake, Harrison, Irving, Lake Andrew, Mamre, New London, Norway Lake and Roseville. Battle of the Beards

WILLMAR — The United Way of West Central Minnesota “Battle of the Beards” contest will run the month of November to raise money for local cancer patients. Four barbershops — Pep’s Barber Shop and Salon of Willmar, Larry’s Barber and Style of Litchfield, Mac’s Barber Shop of Olivia, and Hair Hut of Benson — will place participants in categories and compete to raise the most in donations. Donations will be accepted both in-person and online, and 50% of each team’s funds will go to local cancer support programs. Homeless crisis line

WILLMAR — United Community Action Partnership has a 24/7 crisis line for people experiencing homelessness. The crisis line will operate outside of regular business hours and will be solely dedicated to helping people find emergency shelter.

Anyone in need of shelter should first call their local UCAP office during regular hours. Outside of business hours, those in need should call the crisis line. Those in Kandiyohi, McLeod, Meeker, Renville, and Redwood Counties should dial 320-587-5244 , extension 12. Screening questions will be asked to determine eligibility and coordinate appropriate shelter and other services as needed.

Habitat for Humanity

WILLMAR — Habitat for Humanity of West Central Minnesota ReStore accepts donations of building materials, large appliances, furniture and more. All donations must be approved by staff before acceptance. Donations can be brought to 2424 First Street South in Willmar between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.
