Ryan Clarke Scholarship
NEW LONDON — A fundraiser for the Ryan Clarke Scholarship fund will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the American Legion in New London. Chicken dinner and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., silent auction 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., meat raffle at 4 p.m. Funds raised will go for scholarships for emergency personnel.

WILLMAR — Kwik Trip had a ribbon cutting last week for the downtown Willmar store. Receiving $1,000 checks as part of the ceremony were Family Promise and the Kandiyohi County Food Shelf.
Free paper shredding
WILLMAR — The annual paper shredding event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at Kensington Bank, 2800 First St. S. in Willmar. West Central Shredding will shred paper documents for free. Free will donation for the Willmar Area Food Shelf.

John Booth IV
RENVILLE — A GoFundMe for 4-year-old John Michael Booth IV has been set up by his mother, Lacey Booth of Renville, at gofundme.com/f/funds-for-john-and-family .
He was born March 21, 2016, with a congenital heart defect known as hypoplastic left heart syndrome. He underwent two open heart surgeries and was placed on the heart transplant list in February 2020. He was able to wait for a new heart at home and received it 136 days later. After 12 days, he went home and was doing well with his new heart. A week after being home, John began to spike a fever and had a headache. They returned to the hospital for tests, and on Aug. 1, the family was told John was rejecting his heart. He is hospitalized and battling the rejection.
