Thank you to residents of ISD 347 for the honor of serving on the Willmar School Board the past 18 months, following a special election. Our work is never over, and I am again requesting your vote. Priorities we need to address include: finding a new Superintendent as Dr. Holm retires, fiscal alignment to correspond with our declining enrollment, hiring and retaining excellent employees, financing options to support a Middle School addition, educational parity in our diverse community, continuing to recover from the lost learning that occurred with COVID. Experienced, committed leaders can accomplish these tasks, working collaboratively with employees, parents, and other stake holders. My term on the current School Board and 28 years as a Willmar Teacher help provide the needed skills to accomplish these needs.

As an aside, the most frequent question I get asked involves CRT. Critical Race Theory is a curriculum developed for graduate students. I find the topic too divisive for inclusion in K-12 education. Public distrust of leaders and institutions is already high. I will always promote unity and common sense.
