NEW LONDON — The New London WaterDays 2020 event has been canceled, according to an organization news release.
The Board of Directors and planning committee for the New London WaterDays announced Tuesday the 2020 event has been canceled.
The 2021 event is scheduled for July 14-19.
"We feel it is our responsibility to cancel WaterDays to help prevent the spread of the virus and to keep everyone safe," the organization's news release said. "It is nearly impossible to keep the social distancing along with sanitizing everything with so many people in town."
The organization thanked all sponsors who had donated to the celebration and the ambassador program and said those donations will be used to help with operating expenses and also go toward the 2021 event.
