WILLMAR — Large gatherings and a traditional Memorial Day program were not possible this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic, but squads of veterans visited the Willmar cemeteries Monday.

Veterans from the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVets and others last week placed flags on the graves of veterans in the area.

Today to mark Memorial Day, veterans visited each cemetery where they read the roll call, fired a rifle salute and played taps.
