WILLMAR — The 10th annual Out of the Darkness Walk was held Saturday at Willmar Senior High School in Willmar to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Community members, along with thousands of people across the country, participated in a socially distanced walk or drive to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Funds raised by the community helps to invest in new research, educational programs, and advocacy for public policy as well as supports survivors of suicide loss.
The walk is typically held at Robbins Island Regional Park, but was held at the high school due to construction projects at the park. COVID-19 precautions were taken such as social distancing, staggered registration times, sanitizing and more.
