CONSTRUCTION

Foxhole Brewhouse received a city of Willmar permit in January to construct a new building valued at $2 million; TJ Maxx received a permit to remodel the former Office Max building for an estimated $1.6 million.
The transformation of Bethesda Grand in Willmar began in 2016. The final phase began during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the remodel of the west wing and memory care unit into "neighborhoods." This year, the east wing will be remodeled and an addition constructed.
The $4.4 million demolition of the Willmar Power Plant is quickly proceeding, with the southern-facing wall of the building being removed Monday morning and the western-facing wall completely gone.

Work has stopped in the immediate area. The Minnesota Indian Affairs Council and tribal nations may do additional archaeological work there.

From the editorial: As a start, any such deal should scrap the idea of time limits; perversely, truncated reviews can actually lead to worse delays by encouraging more lawsuits. Instead, Congress should make it harder to tie up projects with dubious legal proceedings.

Minnesota Highway 23 reopened Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, from Paynesville to Richmond as work on the Highway 23 North Gap expansion project has paused for the winter. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the detour will be put back in place next spring until November 2023 while nine miles of Highway 23 in that area is expanded to four lanes.
