BELGRADE - Clara A. Damhof, age 99, of Belgrade died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Belgrade Nursing Home. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Church’s East Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00 pm at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Clara Anna Louise Damhof was born on September 26, 1913, in the Crow River Township, the daughter of Carl and Emma (Lampe) Plumhoff. She was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Belgrade. Clara grew up on her family’s farm where she attended Stearns County Public School # 210. After her schooling she helped at home on the farm and also cared for her sister and her family. It was there that she met Anthony Damhof.

On April 18, 1939, Clara was united in marriage to Anthony. Rev. M. W. Voelzke, the pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Belgrade, officiated the marriage. This union was blessed with a son and four daughters. The family made their home in Roseland. In 1944 the family moved to Belgrade, where Clara worked as an egg candler for Belgrade Produce. She then went on to work for the Ideal Café, and to the Belgrade Nursing Home, where she was a nurse’s assistant. Anthony died on January 23, 1984, Clara and he were able to share in 44 years of marriage.

Clara was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade. She was active there in the WELCA, and sang in the choir. Clara was an avid Twins fan, enjoyed playing bingo, and going on trips with the senior citizens. Clara was known for baking Carmel Rolls, and sharing her Christmas baking with friends and family. Clara also loved to spend time with her family and never turned down a chance to babysit her grandchildren.

Clara A. Damhof died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Belgrade Nursing Home, she was 99. Clara is survived by her daughters, Beatrice (Roger) Sagedahl of Brooten, Delores Bayer of Brooten, Mary (Merlin) Johnson of Hawick, and Ruth (Wes) Von Eschen of Brooten; nine grandchildren, Emily, Gregory, Sarah, Jennifer, Jason, Melissa, Todd, Wendy and Wade; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son, Charles; son-in-law, Allen Bayer; four brothers, and three sisters.
