Lewis "Lewie" Larson, age 87 of Willmar died on June 26, 2014 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. A memorial service will be Saturday July 12, 2014 at 2:00 pm at First Covenant Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

Lewis "Lewie" Manford Larson was born on July 12, 1926, in Colfax Township, Minnesota the son of Melvin and Myrtle (Hatlestad) Larson. He grew up in the New London area where he attended District 13 School. He farmed with his family and in 1945 he entered the United States Army where he was stationed in El Paso, Texas. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1947. He returned to the Willmar area and began working as a heavy equipment operator working road construction for companies including: DeRuyter, Berghuis, Huebner and Prentice.

Lewie was united in marriage to Clarice Theget on April 3, 1976 in Willmar. The couple lived in New London and later moved to Willmar.

Lewie was baptized and confirmed at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church. He loved Jesus and was a faithful member of First Covenant Church in Willmar, where he served as an usher and a greeter. He enjoyed camping, walking, traveling, and bowling with the Colfax neighbors. He was a favorite uncle to all of his nieces and nephews and a good friend to many.

Lewie is survived by his wife Clarice Larson of Willmar, brothers and sister: Orville (and Phyllis) Larson of Rochester, Elaine Hanson of New London, Dennis (and Cheryle) Larson of Prescott, AZ, Dean (and Sandi) Larson of Willmar and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Cecil Larson and sister Ruby Freeberg.
