MONTEVIDEO - Louis Louie Radermacher, age 88, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, January 28th at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. Mass of Christian Burial took place on Saturday, February 1st, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Montevideo

Louis Hugo Radermacher was born on February 26, 1925 in Walter Township, Lac Qui Parle County, the son of Leo and Amanda (Roggenbuck) Radermacher. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and attended country school and Rosen Catholic School until 1936 when the family moved to Madison. He graduated from St. Michaels Catholic School after completing the 8th grade. He went on to farm 160 acres with Leo and 80 acres of his own. During the winter months, he found jobs in the cities, including the meat packing plant in South St. Paul. In addition to serving his country in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946, he successfully completed his GED. Louie went on to attend Dunwoody Institute where he learned the craft of welding and pipefitting. That knowledge was of benefit to him during his careers during 1947 at the Madison gas station, 1948 at the Benson gas station with his brother Bart, the early 1950s with Ken Warner in bulk/storage tank manufacturing and for 30 years from 1956 to 1986 as owner/operator of Radermacher Equipment.

On April 14, 1956, at the altar of Most Holy Trinity Church in St. Louis Park, Louie was united in marriage to Marlys Jean Skordahl. Their union was blessed with four children. In his active years, Louie enjoyed playing pool, golfing and golf cart rides, and especially spending time with his family and friends. As his health declined, Louie was a resident of the Olivia Nursing Home and for the past two years had been a resident of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls. He was called from this life while a resident there, on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the age of 88 years.

Surviving family include his wife Marlys of Montevideo; his children- Cynthia (& Tom) Zeman of Franklin, Debra (& Mark) Suek of Fergus Falls, Kurt (& Jill) Radermacher of Delano, and Kevin (& Jill) Radermacher of Minnetonka; grandchildren- Britta (& Nikolai) Kleven, Megan Suek, Matthew Suek, Algirdas Suek, Philip Radermacher, Dana Radermacher, Derek Radermacher & Jordan Radermacher; brothers- Lee Radermacher of Minnetonka and Jack (& Joan) Radermacher of Florida; sisters- Isabel Kraemer of Ortonville and Ramona Digre of Rochester; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Bart, his sister Marce Plathe and her husband Vince, and his brothers-in-law, Robert Kraemer and Ronald Digre.
