SAUK RAPIDS — The Willmar girls won and the Cardinals’ boys team took second Thursday in the St. Cloud Apollo Thunderbird Triangular at Mayhew Creek Park.
The girls scored 19 points, with eighth-graders Lauren Eilers (19 minutes, 33.4 seconds) and Erin Eilers (19:39.8) finishing first and second. Sartell senior Ingrid Buiceag-Arama was third in 19:54.8. The Sabres scored 38 points.
In the boys’ race, Apollo had 35, followed by Willmar at 41 and Sartell at 45.
Apollo senior Sam Brewer won the 5-kilometer course in 16:32.2.
Willmar junior Colin O’Farrell took first in 17:10.2 and eighth-grader Sully Anez was fourth in 17:45.2.

HLWW Triangular
New London-Spicer won the boys’ portion of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Triangular at Howard Lake.
The Wildcats were led by senior Ty Bisek, who took second overall with a time of 17 minutes, 24 seconds to finish behind HLWW’s Chase Deiter (17:22).
Sophomore Nixon Harrier was fourth in 19:05. The Wildcats had seven of the top 12 runners.

In the girls’ race, HLWW won with 25 points. NLS was third with 57.
HLWW ninth-grader Maddie LeSage won in 20:21. Peyton Dahl was NLS’ top finisher. She took seventh in 22:14.
NLS is host to a triangular at 4 p.m. next Thursday at Little Crow Golf Club. Also competing are Litchfield and Minnewaska.

The Minnewaska girls swept the top five spots to score 15 points and easily win the triangular at Sauk Centre

Kiearra Wilmes was the first-place finisher with a time of 20 minutes, 52.00 seconds in the girls’ 5-kilometer run.
In the boys’ race, Melrose won with 30 points. Minnewaska was second with 39.
Sauk Centre’s Brandon Kampsen took first in 18:04.00.
Minnewaska’s Maeson Tank (18:50.00) took third and Logan Maanum (18:52.00) was fourth.
Minnewaska’s next meet is 4 p.m. next Thursday at the Little Crow Golf Club in Spicer. New London-Spicer is the host.

Both the Canby/Minneota boys and girls teams took first in the Camden Conference triangular at Granite Falls.
The Lancers had both first-place finishers. Blake Stoks won the boys race (18 minutes, 25 seconds) and Grace Dietz took top honors for the girls (19:58).
Yellow Medicine East’s top boys finisher was Tyler Syring, who took sixth in 20:23. The Sting had 47 points to take second.
In the girls’ race, YME’s Kylie Knollenberg was sixth in 24:26. The Sting were second with 42 points.
YME next competes at 6 p.m. next Thursday against Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at Tracy Area High School.
