NEW LONDON — The New London-Spicer High School gymnasium got a little more colorful for the 2019 Minnesota State High School League Region 5A Visual Arts Competition May 1 in New London. NLS hosted the annual exhibition and 187 student artwork entries representing 14 schools across the region.

Each school can enter up to 18 works of art at the Subsection or Section Levels and no more than one-third of the school's entries can be submitted in one category. Students could enter in multiple categories including drawing, painting, sculpture, digital photography, crafts and more.

The following students received overall "Best of Site" category awards at the competition:

Video Art: Whitney DeGuiseppi, Annandale

Crafts: Meghan McClain, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City

Printmaking: Ben Schuldt, Annandale

Ceramics: Morgan Hanneken, Pierz

2D Mixed Media Collage: Driel Mortenson, New London Spicer

Graphic Design: Anika Norgren, Annandale
