DAWSON — The Dawson-Boyd Arts Association presents Carrie Newcomer with pianist Gary Walters at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Auditorium in Dawson.

This concert was originally scheduled for last February but a winter blizzard prevented the concert.

Carrie Newcomer is a songwriter, Grammy award winner, recording artist, performer and educator. She has been described as a “prairie mystic” by the Boston Globe and one who “asks all the right questions” by Rolling Stone.

Newcomer has 17 nationally released albums and has released two companion books of poetry and essays, “A Permeable Life: Poems and Essays” and “The Beautiful Not Yet: Poems, Essays & Lyrics.”

Newcomers’ first theatrical production, “Betty’s Diner: The Musical” was produced as part of Purdue University’s 2015-2016 theatrical season and is now available to interested theaters, universities and spiritual communities.

Newcomer will be presenting a workshop in Dawson “The Beautiful Not Yet: Living with Hope in Hard Times” from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is limited to 30 participants. Pre-registration is required. There is a small workshop fee.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and are available online at www.dawsonboydarts.org, by calling the box office at 320-312-2311 and at the door.
