Children’s production on stage at The Barn this weekend

WILLMAR - “Rapunzel: The Musical” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday at The Barn Theatre in downtown Willmar.

General admission tickets are $5 at the door. Children 2 and under will be admitted free.

The play, written and directed by Nikki Bettcher Erickson, is a fun, modernized and quick take on the classic Grimm's fairy tale. It is being staged through Willmar Community Education and Recreation.

Cast members in grades 1-8  have been spending the week learning lines, designing costumes, dancing, singing and getting the stage ready for two shows.

Children ages 4 through 6, participating in the “Tiny Theatre Time,” will join the cast as veggies in the witch’s garden, and sing at the beginning of the play.

Cast members in grades 1-8 include: Eileen Bosch, Ingrid Bunn, Qiara Christenson, Quiana Christenson, Kayloni Dalle, Kaitlin Delfosse, James Dickman, Erin Dresler, Mara Duscher, Madison Engstrom, Hailey Fadness, Isabel Gilberts, Elsa Gustafson, Tyler Heida, Aubrey Hjelle, Ella Huisinga, Kailey Hyatt, Kailyn Johnson, Alexa Kath, Heidi Kath, Ruby Klinger, Ava Konsterlie, Elizabeth Kurhajetz, Julia Lindquist, Taiya Lucas, Kennedy Mara, Kessa Mara, Aaron Marthaler, Brooklyn Mathews, Madeline Miller, Jesse Mord, Franny Osborn, Adrienne Pankratz, Eleanor Ryder, Elizabeth Sietsema, Allie Simon, Zeke Sombke, Lauren Strei, Kaelyn Swenson and Madalynn Villnow.

Working with the play are interns Annie Shaefbauer, Kathryn Gubrud, Elijah Engle and Alice Lindgren.

The Barn Theatre is at 321 Fourth St. S.W. in Willmar.
