The League of Women Voters of the Willmar Area plans several 2022 election candidate forums over the next few weeks.
Two Willmar men were arrested and charged Monday for a fight that broke out in the 1600 block of Seventh Avenue Southeast. One of the men allegedly had a firearm in his possession. The Willmar Police Department said more charges are expected, and the investigation is ongoing.
No injuries were reported when a pickup crashed into the rear of a school bus Monday morning on U.S. Highway 12 in Kandiyohi.
Makayla Marie Oothoudt Willprecht, 21, of Willmar, pleaded not guilty this week to charges in the April overdose death of 19-year-old Samantha Jean Myers of Pennock. According to the criminal complaint, Willprecht and another man who is also charged arranged a purchase of pills through text messages.
Matthew John Monson of Willmar is serving jail time and three years of supervised probation after pleading guilty to two counts of criminal vehicular operation related to a rollover crash last summer on the edge of Willmar that injured himself and four passengers. In exchange for his plea, two other charges of criminal vehicular operation were dismissed. All four charges alleged that Monson had an alcohol concentration of 0.08% or more within two hours of driving.
An 18-year-old driver was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center following a collision Friday afternoon on Highway 7 in East Lake Lillian Township in Kandiyohi County.

Two drivers were transported for possible injuries after a crash Wednesday morning in Spicer. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, one vehicle failed to yield the right of way to another.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office responded to rollover crash Wednesday morning near Spicer. An Atwater woman was transported for her injuries. She was wearing her seat belt and had no passengers.
No one was injured early Tuesday after Willmar police received reports of possible gunshots in the 300 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast. Police interviewed witnesses and collected several shell casings at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
