LITCHFIELD — Litchfield sophomore running back Lukas Kuehl helped the Dragons run away with a 35-9 homecoming victory on Friday over New London-Spicer, finishing with 195 yards on 27 attempts. He scored three touchdowns.

Litchfield is ranked fifth in the state in Class AAA by The Associated Press. New London-Spicer received votes in the same poll.

The Dragons wasted no time in scoring first. Kuehl scored on a 73-yard rushing touchdown in the Dragons’ first offensive play of the game. It ignited the hometown fans and the Dragons sideline, but shocked the Wildcats’ sidelines.

“It really deflated us right away,” NLS coach Chad Gustafson said. “We had worked on that all week and obviously they took it to us. After that it was like we couldn’t get anything going in that first half.”
