The premiere of Art Wars will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Potato Eaters Gallery in downtown Willmar. Greg Benson, tattoo artist, and Carissa Johnson, photographer and multimedia artist, will critically interpret each other's works and, in turn, offer excuses for their own perspectives.
Art Wars will be conducted over two hours with a debate format. The goal is to strengthen artists and art through open dialogue and straight-forward feedback while also seeking to attract a big crowd of art enthusiasts.
Beginning at 5 p.m. there will be time to look at all the art. At 5:30 p.m. there will be introductions and critical reviews followed by rebuttals, speeches and excuses at 6 p.m.
The audience will have a chance to cheer and voice their opinions at 6:15 p.m., followed by time to enjoy the exhibition.
The gallery will be open Saturday for viewing some of the works of Benson and Johnson.
