Barn Theatre

The Barn Theatre in Willmar presents Theatre Arts 101 workshops through May. They will be in person and online at 6:30 p.m. Registration will open on the website two weeks before the first day of each workshop. For more information call 320-235-9500 or email . Acting/auditions workshop: April 12; by Matt Hegdahl designed for anyone interested in performance. It will focus on these areas: understanding your type, preparing for a role/audition, creating a character, finding your voice, choosing monogogues. Participants will have a chance to audition for the Reader’s Theater livestream.

Roundtable discussions with directors: April 19, 26, led by Matt Hegdahl, the workshop will give current directors a chance to talk about their craft and a variety of topics. Interpreting a script, casting/auditions, working with designers/stage managers/technical crew, the playwright’s context/intent and what a director can do within copyright laws.

Choreography/stage movement: Four consecutive nights, April 27-30, on The Barn Theatre stage. Led by Pauline Prawl, the workshop will focus on stage choreography.

Stage management: May 11, 18, online or in person. Led by Jan Buzzeo, the workshop will focus on all the details of a stage manager’s job.

Tea pots painting class: April 10, 2 p.m., $20; pre-registration required, join a guided art class with Riley, paints, canvas and brushes provided.

Spring Sun Catchers: April 12, 2 p.m., registration deadline April 9. Curbside pick-up kits are also available.

Planters of Spring Class: April 21-22, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., $10; Make your own wood flower pot. Learn basic cutting, sanding, and assembling to make your own pot. Register online at Willmar Parks and Recreation website.

Pizza Box Herb Garden Box: April 24, 2 to 4 p.m., $10; Decorate, plant and create your own herb garden with rosemary, thyme, oregano, and basil, the perfect garnishes to pizzas. Register online at Willmar Parks and Recreation website.
