Barn Theatre
The Barn Theatre in Willmar presents Theatre Arts 101 workshops through May. They will be in person and online at 6:30 p.m. Registration will open on the website www.thebarntheatre.com/ two weeks before the first day of each workshop. Acting/auditions workshop: April 6, 12; by Matt Hegdahl designed for anyone interested in performance. It will focus on these areas: understanding your type, preparing for a role/audition, creating a character, finding your voice, choosing monogogues. Participants will have a chance to audition for the Reader’s Theater livestream.
Roundtable discussions with directors: April 19, 26, led by Matt Hegdahl, the workshop will give current directors a chance to talk about their craft and a variety of topics. Interpreting a script, casting/auditions, working with designers/stage managers/technical crew, the playwright’s context/intent and what a director can do within copyright laws.
Choreography/stage movement: Four consecutive nights, April 27-30, on The Barn Theatre stage. Led by Pauline Prawl, the workshop will focus on stage choreography.
Stage management: May 11, 18, online or in person. Led by Jan Buzzeo, the workshop will focus on all the details of a stage manager’s job.
