WILLMAR -- Luis Argueta, the award winning director of the film "The Silence of Neto," will present his work-in-progress "abUSed: The Postville Raid" at 6 p.m. Monday at the WEAC rehearsal hall.
The presentation includes an introductory talk followed by a screening of a half-hour rough-cut segment of the film and ending with a question and answer session.
The full-length documentary will tell the story of the largest Immigrations Customs Enforcement raids in the history of the United States. By weaving together the personal stories of the people directly affected by the events of May 12, 2008, the film presents the human face of immigration, the socioeconomic forces which fuel migration, and serves as a cautionary tale against government abuses of constitutional and human rights.
Everyone is welcome; admission is free. The showing is sponsored in part by Paz y Esperanza Lutheran Church in Willmar.
