APPLETON - Pioneer Public Television will air the pilot episode of "MinneShowta" at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The new regional comedy variety show hosted by ventriloquist James Wedgwood was recorded in front of a live audience in October at Edson Hall on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Morris.
It will feature Minnesota performers. The pilot included the a cappella group "The Sound Exchange" and comedienne Mary Rowles, along with a humorous profile of Vining, Minnesota.
MinneShowta is the brainchild of Wedgwood who received a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council to create a pilot episode for the show with Pioneer. The viewing public is invited to send their feedback about the show via an online survey on Pioneer's website. The program will be repeated at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28.
If viewer feedback is positive and additional funding can be secured, more episodes of MinneShowta will be created and aired.
