Dawson-Boyd Arts Association's second concert of the season will feature singer/songwriter Chuck Suchy from Mandan, N.D., at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Auditorium in Dawson.

Suchy is one of the foremost musical voices of the American Great Plains. A working farmer from the blue hills along the Missouri River, Suchy has a love for making music about home, family, the land and the changing rural landscape. He has been featured on A Prairie Home Companion; he specializes in sensitive and honest portrayals of contemporary American farm life from an insider's point of view.

He writes, sings and records songs evoking and extolling the Great Plains region and lifestyle. The Plains have seen a lot of change over time, including farm crises, loss of population, and a major restructuring of the agricultural economy. Suchy remains an astute observer of it all and his songs chronicle not only the events, but the emotions and feelings that accompany such upheaval and change.

This concert takes place during Meander weekend, the Upper Minnesota River Valley Art Crawl, now in its sixth year. There will be a silent auction fundraiser for the Arts Association featuring local artwork, specialty foods and tickets to arts events. All proceeds will benefit future programming.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and are available at the door or by calling the box office at 320-769-2955 ext. 246 or visit www.dawsonboydarts.org
