Horticulture Display Garden: Open daily from dawn to dusk, University of Minnesota’s West Central Research and Outreach Center, 46352 State Hwy. 329, Morris. Please adhere to all safety procedures and protocols posted at garden entrances and informational kiosks.

Outdoors
Sibley State Park: A vehicle permit is required to enter the park and is available online. Sibley State Park is west of New London just off U.S. Highway 71. For more information, visit the state Department of Natural Resources website at www.dnr.state.mn.us .
Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center: Trails at the rural Spicer center may be used during daylight hours at no cost. A bathroom with composting toilets is open by the pavilion. Pets should be on a leash. All equipment rentals (fat-tire bikes, kayaks, canoes) will be handled on a reservation basis, made at least 24 hours in advance. To reserve equipment for the weekend, please call by noon Friday. Two-hour equipment rental is $20 for adults, $10 for members and $5 for all youth. Call

- Game Day at the Pioneer Cabin: Oct. 20, 4 to 5:30 p.m., grades 1-5, $6.50, advance registration required. Who’s up for some friendly competition? After dressing as a pioneer, unplug for an afternoon of blind man’s bluff, a three-legged race, a game of graces (hoops & sticks), kubb and many more pioneer games. If it’s raining out, we’ll see how you do at jacks, pick-up sticks, and card games. Meet at the Pioneer Cabin on the Farm Site.
- Halloween Haunt: Oct. 28, 6 to 9 p.m., grades K-5, $10, must be accompanied by an adult. Talk with the creatures on the enchanted trail to find out what they are doing to get ready for winter, decorate a cookie, play games and climb the indoor wall, all in your costume.
- Pioneer crafts: Nov. 8, 4 to 5:30 p.m., grades 1-5, $8, advance registration required. Dress as a pioneer and make several different crafts. Learn which crafts would be done for fun (corn husk dolls, buzz saws) and which ones would be done for necessity (dipping candles, sewing) and take home what you make. Meet at the Pioneer Cabin on the Farm Site.
- Story Hour at the Pioneer Cabin: Nov. 17, 4 to 5:15 p.m., grades K-3, $6.50, parent or guardian free, advance registration required. Dress as a pioneer and listen to a story about the Ingalls family and what pioneer life was like, listen to a book and do an activity that Laura did. Different book and activity from the September event.
