ROSCOE –– A 13-year old Stearns County boy was injured last night when farm tractor that he was using to haul hay bales was struck by a freightliner semi.
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on state Highway 23 and Stearns County Road 10 near Roscoe.
According to the State Patrol, Derek Ley, 13, of Richmond, was driving a 1979 Case tractor and attempting to cross Highway 23 from the south ditch when the tractor was struck broadside by a 2007 Freightliner car-hauler semi that was going east on Highway 23.
Ley was taken to CentraCare Health in Paynesville with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.
The semi was driven by Mark Barber, 53, of Alexandria. Barber had no apparent injuries.
