16U Softball: Willmar triumphs in season finale, 12-4

WILLMAR -- The Willmar 16U softball team took advantage of five MACCRAY errors in a 12-4 win to end the season Tuesday.

Willmar (18-3) led 7-4 through five innings, then scored five runs in the sixth for the final margin.

Sara Freed went the distance for the win. She held MACCRAY to four hits, struck out eight and walked one. All four runs she allowed were unearned.

Brittany Hastad and Chelsey Wierschem had two hits each. Hastad scored two runs, with Wierschem and Bobbi Sather each collecting two RBI.

In other action, BOLD beat NLS Wildcats 10-3 and ACGC beat NLS Black 5-1.
