Gene Schneider, the Willmar Police Department's high school resource officer, said that he was notified of the blade after someone had seen the 17-year-old boy show the weapon. The school took actions against the student, Schneider said. He said the boy may also face charges for having a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

Despite the presence of the weapon, Schneider said that no harm was threatened by the student. "No threats, nothing malicious," he said.

Friday's incident was the second in two days involving students displaying or having knives in the school. On Thursday a 15-year-old student was listed in a weapons complaint filed with the Willmar Police Department at the high school after allegedly bringing three knives into the school.
