GRAND FORKS, N.D. - A weather system is expected to drop 3 to 5 inches of snow on Fargo and other areas of eastern North Dakota by late Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service says.
The snow is expected to start late this evening or early Wednesday morning and continue into Wednesday afternoon, with the heaviest band of snow producing 3 to 5 inches from the Devils Lake basin into the Valley City and Fargo areas.
A winter weather advisory issued this morning is in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Wednesday for all of eastern North Dakota except for Traill, Grand Forks, Walsh and Pembina counties.
Winds are expected to increase into the 15 to 25 mph range by late Wednesday afternoon and could produce blowing and drifting snow in open areas, the weather service said. Hazardous wind chill values of 25 below to 40 below are expected.
