LITCHFIELD – Three people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Meeker County.
The incident was reported at 2:13 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12 and state Highway 24 north of Litchfield.
According to the State Patrol, a 2012 Isuzu NPR truck driven by Elijah Immanual Rasmussen, 19, of Willmar, was going west on Highway 24 when it failed to stop at a stop sign.
The vehicle struck a semi that was going north on Highway 12 and a Ford Explorer that was stopped in the southbound turn lane on Highway 12 waiting to go east on Highway 24.
According to the State Patrol report, Rasmussen and a passenger, Jesse Michael Taylor, 25, of Carrsville, Virginia, were taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the 2014 Ford Explorer, Warren Edward Kelm, 72, of Darwin, was also taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the 2016 Peterbilt semi, Dennis Michael Wall, 61, of Paynesville, was not injured.
The road was wet at the time, all involved were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
The Litchfield Police Department and Litchfield Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
