NEW LONDON — A 13-year-old juvenile female was returned home Wednesday night in Kandiyohi County after her parents reported her missing, according to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office.
Multiple agencies responded to the call around 9 p.m. on the 7000 block of 199th Avenue Northeast.
Kandiyohi County Chief Deputy Julie Wyffels wrote in an email that drones from the Willmar Police Department and Kandiyohi County Emergency Management were used to search the surrounding area, with members of the Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad assisting with manpower.
"(The juvenile) was not dressed properly for the weather, it was single digits last night and concerns for her welfare were brought up," Wyffels wrote.
The teenager was located around 10:07 p.m. in a wooded area about a mile northwest of state Highway 9 by a family member.
The girl was checked over by ambulance personnel on the scene; she was not transported to a hospital.
The New London Ambulance assisted in the incident.
