* Regional development commissions are planning organizations in Minnesota created by statute in 1969. They provide a wide range of services to local governments and residents, including comprehensive planning, citizen involvement initiatives, and intergovernmental facilitation.
Funding for projects is provided through grants and a small property tax levy. Commissions are composed of local elected officials and citizen members.
* There are seven Area Agencies on Aging in the state of Minnesota. The agencies provide assistance to seniors, local agencies and communities.
The Minnesota Board on Aging is tasked with partnering with the Area Agencies on Aging and others to administer and oversee the effective use of Older Americans Act and state funds to support older Minnesotans.
