WILLMAR -- A Willmar man was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital around 2 p.m. Wednesday after a car accident at the intersection of First Street South and Becker Avenue Southeast.
According to the accident report, Awil Abdiwahid, 20, was driving his 2002 Pontiac Aztec westbound on Becker Avenue when another vehicle pulled out of the Super America station on the corner of First Street and Becker Avenue. The driver pulling out of the station lost control of the vehicle and began to swerve on Becker Avenue. Abdiwhahid tried to avoid the skidding vehicle and crashed into a 1996 Chevy Pickup that was parked along Becker Avenue.
Abdiwahid was reportedly wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Willmar Ambulance to the hospital.
