Accidents kill five in west central Minnesota

It has been a tragic two days on west central Minnesota roads. Five people were killed in three separate vehicle rollover accidents Sunday and Monday.

It has been a tragic two days on west central Minnesota roads. Five people were killed in three separate vehicle rollover accidents Sunday and Monday.

At 1:37 a.m. Sunday, the Stearns County Sheriff's Department responded to a vehicle rollover accident in Munson Township at Stearns County Road 23 near Hillview Road.

Alejandro Rendon, 29, of Willmar was driving a Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck south on Stearns County Road 23 when he lost control of the truck and the vehicle rolled over.

Rendon, and one passenger, Irma Morales, 24, of Willmar, were pronounced dead at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Department.

Three passengers, Ino-cencia Garcia, 24, Yulissa Rendon, 4, and Alejandro Rendon Jr., 3, were all taken to Rice Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries.

All three were treated and released from Rice Hospital in Willmar.

The Stearns County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Cold Spring Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.

A 50-year-old Granite Falls man died Sunday night in a one-vehicle rollover accident near Hanley Falls.

Dale William Carl, 50, Granite Falls was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred on 480th Street, just south of 330th Avenue.

The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Montevideo Ambulance and Fire Department, the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Granite Falls Police Department and the Clarkfield Police Department.

Early Monday, Dennis Duane Nelson, 61, of Dawson and his brother Kenneth Dale Nelson, 67, of Madison, were killed while hauling hogs.

Dennis Nelson was driving the 1998 Chevy pickup pulling a trailer loaded with hogs on U.S. Highway 75, three miles north of Ivanhoe, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The vehicle ran off the road and rolled over, the State Patrol said. Both were wearing seatbelts. Both were dead at the scene.

The accident occurred at 6:14 a.m. Monday.
