Willmar Police subdue man, take into custody after standoff at residence

One killed, two injured in Renville County crash

GRANITE FALLS — A Nebraska man was killed and two passengers were injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday night in Renville County.

The accident was reported at 9:52 p.m. at U.S. Highway 212 and state Highway 23, east of Granite Falls.

According to the State Patrol, a 2006 Pontiac G6 was going south on Highway 23, failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 212 and left the roadway and rolled 8-9 times before coming to a rest on its wheels.

The driver, Ahmed Abdikarim Hassan, 25, from South Sioux City, Nebraska, was killed in the crash.

Two passengers in the vehicle, Yusuf Shuayb Ahmed, 25, of Lexington, Nebraska, and Bashir Ali Mire, 32, of Sioux City, Iowa, were taken to the Granite Falls Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Road conditions were wet at the time of the accident.

The Granite Falls Ambulance and Fire Department, Chippewa County Sheriff's Department, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff's Department and Renville County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene of the crash.
