Semi full of turkeys overturns near Spicer

SPICER – A semi hauling turkeys overturned early Tuesday morning near Spicer, killing and injuring an undetermined number of turkeys.
The driver of the semi, Rodolfo Zaragoza, 40, of Renville, was not injured.

The accident was reported at 1:49 a.m. on Highway 23 near Spicer.

According to the State Patrol, Zaragoza fell asleep and the semi went off the road and came to a stop in the median.

The driver got out of the truck before the semi overturned in the median.

He was cited for “duty to drive with due care,” according to State Patrol.

Crews were on the scene for about seven hours removing the turkeys and cleaning up the accident scene.
