NEW LONDON — A New London teen was injured in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on ice-covered roads.

The accident was reported at 9:25 a.m. on state Highway 23, about midway between New London and Spicer.

According to the State Patrol, McCartney Taylor Knutson, 16, New London, was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup north on Highway 23 near 158th Avenue Northeast, when the vehicle lost control on the icy road and rolled into the ditch.

A passenger in the truck, Shannon May Monson, 16, was taken to Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Knutson was not injured.

They were both wearing seat belts, according to the report, and alcohol was not involved.
