NEW LONDON — The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office is warning the public to be careful on lake ice after a 60-year-old Rogers fell through the ice Friday afternoon on Games Lake, about 9 miles west of New London.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the man, whose name has not been released, was driving a 2019 Can-Am Defender when it broke through a portion of thin ice about 2:09 p.m. Friday and sank in six to seven feet of water.

The man was not injured and had climbed out onto the ice and it was reported that he safely walked back to his cabin before law enforcement arrived.

"The Sheriff's Office wants to remind the citizens that we serve the danger and volatility of ice conditions on our area lakes," Corporal Jason Keith said in a news release about the incident.
