CLARA CITY — A driver was airlifted for injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning at the intersection of state Highways 7 and 23 in Clara City.

Silvio Yoc Ramirez, 18, of Minneapolis, was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital by Life Link helicopter for non-life-threatening injuries, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

His passenger, Alvaro Gomez Lucas, 32, of Minneapolis, was treated at CCM Health in Montevideo for non-life-threatening injuries.

Ramirez was driving a 2015 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Highway 7 around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday. A 2009 Mack semitractor-trailer driven by Travis Jerome Kuemper, 37, of Redwood Falls, was southbound on Highway 23. The semi and Sonata collided in the intersection, according to the accident report.

Kuemper did not require medical care.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

The Clara City Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services units along with Life Link and the Minnesota Department of Transportation assisted at the accident scene.

It’s the second collision at the intersection this month. A Montevideo man was injured in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection on June 4.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has completed a safety assessment of the intersection and is expected to issue its findings and recommendations in the near future.
