ST. PAUL -- For the second straight year, Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City placed third in the Class A portion of the state wrestling tournament Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center.
ACGC and Wabasso split the 14 matches, but the Falcons scored bonus points in four of their seven wins for a 32-23 victory.
The Falcons (26-4), who had two state champions, a runner-up and a fourth-place finisher in the individual portion of the tournament this past weekend, bolted to an 11-0 lead and were never headed.
Jeremy Anderson, who won the 103-pound state championship, scored a technical fall to start things off. Ben Meyer, fourth at 112 pounds, then followed with a third-period pin.
Wabasso cut the deficit to 11-3 with a decision at 119 before ACGC's Matt Pearson put the Falcons ahead 14-3 with a decision at 125.
