HUTCHINSON -- Kaafi Adeys finished first and the Willmar boys were unstoppable as the No. 1-rated Cardinals won the 12-team Hutchinson crosscountry invitational Thursday.
With Abdi Awale, Mohamed Bedel and Mustafa Yusuf also in the top 10, Willmar ran up only 35 points to 106 for runner-up Hutchinson.
Adeys, who also won the St. Cloud Apollo Invitational, finished the 5,000-meter course in 16:31. Brian Kegley of Hutchinson was seven seconds back.
Wayzata won the girls race with medalist Brooke Wyffels leading Marshall to second place. Willmar took eighth led by Britta Pederson, Jayne Cole and Rachael Nelson.
Willmar is idle until Sept. 24 when they will compete at the Apple Valley Invitational.
