OLIVIA -- Renville County Sheriff Jerry Agre announced today that he intends to retire in January.
In a letter to the Renville County Board, Agre wrote that he wants to continue to be involved in county government and expects to file for the county's District 5 county commissioner seat this summer.
Agre has been sheriff since 1991. He also served as county deputy from 1975 to 1979 and as an Olivia police officer for 12 years.
