DANUBE -- Albert Schochenmaier, 94, formerly of Danube died Tuesday at the Renvilla Nursing Home in Renville.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Danube. Burial will be at St. Matthew's North Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a public prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Prinsburg and for one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
He was born March 8, 1913, on a farm in Boyd County, Neb. to Frederick and Katherine (Wuest) Schochenmaier. He grew up on a farm in Boyd County and attended the country school near the farm.

He married Amanda Vetter on Feb. 23, 1938. They farmed near Bonesteel, S.D., until 1957. They lived on a farm near Roseland and then they built a home in Danube. In 1976, they retired. In 1999, they became residents of Fairview Place in Olivia and lived there for almost seven years. In 2006, they both became residents of the Renvilla Nursing Home.
He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church and served on various committees. He also served as a voting judge.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter: Joyce (and Dale) Neyhart of Danube; one son: Allen Schochenmaier of Glencoe; one daughter-in law: Sherry Schochenmaier of Maple Grove; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Sarah Brown of Atkinson, Neb., Ranatha (and Bernard) Burke of Bonesteel, S.D., Anna Marie (and Elmer) Cahoy of Bonesteel, S.D.; and two brothers: Alvin (and Lila) Schochenmaier of Naper, Neb., and Aldrew (and Marjorie) Schochenmaier of Bonesteel, S.D.
He was preceded in death by one son: Jerald Schochenmaier in 1999; and three brothers.
