ALEXANDRIA -- Willmar slowly geared up its offense, but couldn't get the puck past Alexandria goalie Derek Swenson, leading to a 4-0 loss in Central Lakes Conference action Tuesday.
Willmar was stagnant with the puck in the first period, getting off only three shots on goal. The output doubled each period, with six shots in the seond and 12 in the third.
"We came alive in the third period and had some chances on some power plays to put the puck in the net," said Willmar coach Reed Larson.
Alexandria peaked in the second period, getting two goals in 12 shots, then was held to just four shots on goal in the third. Willmar goalie John Mattison stopped 21 pucks overall.
