ALEXANDRIA -- Willmar did find some offense but not enough and fell 6-3 to Alexandria at the Runestone Center on Thursday night.
The fast-paced Central Lakes Conference game saw the host team outshoot the visitors, 36-23.
Tyler Resch scored the first of his two goals on a powerplay for an early 1-0 Alexandria lead. But Matt Odom answered for Willmar with an assist going to Josh Mead, making it 1-1 at 12:05 of the first.
Justin Hochsprung swung the momentum back to Alexandria with another goal on the man-advantage for a 2-1 lead after one.
It was the first of four straight goals by Alexandria over three periods for a 5-1 lead.

Willmar made some noise in the sixth minute of the third period. Mead got a power-play goal, followed a half-minute later at 6:25 with a tally by Rory Schneider off a steal by Jordan Benson.
That made the score 5-3, but Willmar couldn't beat goalie Matt Hemingway again.
Jon Mattison made 30 saves for Willmar, which plays at Litchfield on Saturday.
