BENSON -- Alfred V. Benson, 89, of Chisago City, formerly of Danvers, died Monday at Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City.
The service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson. Burial will be at a later date at the Benson City Cemetery.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are Zniewski Funeral Home in Benson. Memorials are preferred to Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City or Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.
He was born Jan. 7, 1916, in Danvers to Gustav and Emma (Hauge) Benson. He was the postmaster in Danvers. He served in the post office from 1938 to 1978. He served in the U.S. Army in the Phillippines during World War II.

He is survived by wife: Bernice; children: David (and Gayle) Benson of Eden Prairie, Don Benson of New London, Donna Benson of Lindstrom, Denise Benson (and Larry Maki) of Deer River; son-in-law: Arvid Dallmann of Shorewood; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter: Darlene.
