WILLMAR — The alleged killer of Mabel Agnes Boyer Herman, who was stabbed to death in 1974 in Willmar, is now behind bars in the Kandiyohi County Jail.
Algene Vossen, 79, arrived at the jail Thursday afternoon, according to the jail roster. His first court appearance in Kandiyohi County is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
Vossen was arrested in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, on July 23, after a cold case investigation by the Willmar Police Department connected Vossen to the homicide with DNA evidence. He had been questioned about the death in 1974, but it wasn't until 2020 that he was arrested.
