BIRD ISLAND -- Alice Margaret Meier, 86, of Bird Island died Tuesday in Monument, Colo.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm. today at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials are preferred to St. Mary's Church or St. Mary's School.
She was born June 17, 1922, in Olivia to John and Emma (Kubesh) Dillon. She attended Troy Township Country School and Olivia High School. She attended teachers training in Pine River.
She married Raymond G. Meier on May 28, 1945.

She taught at a single-room school house south of Olivia and later at St. Mary's School. She was a member of St. Mary's High School Board, Ladies Auxiliary and the Council of Catholic Women.
She is survived by five children: Gary of Faribault, Doug (and Tricia) of Monument, Colo., Jolene of Coon Rapids, John (and Mary) of Eden Prairie and Mark (and Tammy) of Highlands Ranch, Colo; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: four sisters: Mary (and Willis) Laraway of Longville, Rose (and Dick) Gravelle of San Jose, Calif., Eileen (and Bill) Gass of Bird Island and Karyn (and Bill) Corley of Gold Canyon, Ariz; and a brother: Jack (and Margaret) Dillon of Denver, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson and two siblings.
