GLENWOOD -- Alice Manda Takken, 98, of Glenwood, died Monday at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.
The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hoplin Funeral Home in Glenwood. Burial will be at Chippewa Falls Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday. Memorials preferred to Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church.
She was born Sept. 4, 1907, in Sacred Heart to Randolph and Therena (Johnson) Lanning. The family moved to Terrace in 1914. She attended elementary school and graduated from Brooten High School. She worked at the Minton Hotel in Glenwood for two years, and then worked for the Takken's at the Terrace Store until June 1932.

She married Arthur Takken. They purchased a cream station and built a restaurant. They sold the business and bought an RV for mission work. They returned to the area and purchased the Terrace Store, which later burned. They bought the mill and built church furniture. They retired to California. Art died in 1994 and she moved back to Glenwood.
She is survived by her brother: Raymond (and Arlene) of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Roger; one brother and two sisters.
