EDITOR'S NOTE: The following 2006 All-Area Football selection ran with the incorrect photo in Saturday's edition.
Offense
DAVID NELSON
ACGC, senior, 5-9, 200, G-DT
Nelson explodes off the block and overpowers defensive linemen with his strength and technique. The Falcons were second in the area in rushing yards per game and often followed Nelson's blocks en route to averaging 354 yards and over 33 points per game. He also notched 31 tackles and a sack on the defensive side.

The All-Area team is selected by the sports editor after consulting with several coaches, players, officials and college scouts.
The team is selected by position, although not all players are placed at their best position. Rather, the overall value of the player leads to his selection. For example, a 1,000-yard running back might be on the team as a linebacker because we didn't feel he was among the top three running backs. But, because he was such a standout on offense, while also performing admirably on defense, he was picked to the team at the latter position.
